6 Profound Alternatives for AI Visibility (2026)

By Clarvia Team

The best Profound alternative depends on what pushed you to look for one: Clarvia if you want fixes and not just monitoring at a per-company price, Peec or Otterly if you want lighter-weight mention tracking, Scrunch if you are enterprise and agent-focused, and Semrush AI Toolkit or Ahrefs Brand Radar if you would rather bolt AI tracking onto a suite you already pay for.

Full disclosure before we start: Clarvia (that is us) is on this list. We have tried to be as honest about our own gaps as everyone else's, and you can weigh our bias accordingly.

What is Profound, and why do people look for alternatives?

Profound is an enterprise AI visibility platform that monitors how your brand appears across AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews, with deep data on prompts, citations, and share of voice. It is a serious product with real depth, and for large brands with dedicated teams it is often a genuinely good fit. We compare it head-to-head with Clarvia on our Profound comparison page.

People typically look for alternatives for three reasons:

  1. Depth costs money. Profound now has a self-serve entry tier (reported around $99/month), so price alone is less of a barrier than it used to be. But the entry tier is a slice of the platform, and the depth Profound is famous for still lives in the sales-led enterprise plans.
  2. Monitoring vs fixing. Profound's core strength is telling you where you stand, and its Agents can generate content from the findings. Applying changes on your live pages and pushing them to your CMS is still largely your job.
  3. Overkill. Some teams need a weekly answer to "are we showing up, yes or no, and what do we fix", not a full analytics deployment.

If one of those is you, here are six alternatives, each with an honest read on strengths, weaknesses, and fit.

1. Clarvia: score your site, then fix it in one click

Clarvia scans your website the way an AI engine reads it, scores your AI visibility across nine dimensions (crawler access, extractable answer structure, entity consistency, freshness, and more), and turns the findings into one-click fixes you can apply and push to your CMS. The premise is different from Profound's: monitoring tells you the scoreboard, but the score only changes when your pages change, so the fixing is the product.

Strengths: the scan-to-fix loop (you leave with shipped changes, not a report), per-company pricing with no per-seat or per-brand math, a free scan to see your standing before paying, and plans from $99/month for solo operators up to agency tiers (see pricing).

Weaknesses: honest ones. Our prompt-level share-of-voice monitoring is not as deep as Profound's, and enterprise brands wanting exhaustive conversation-volume analytics will find Profound's dataset richer. We are the fix-first tool, not the deepest dashboard.

Best for: SMBs, SaaS teams, and agencies that want their AI visibility measured AND improved by the same tool, without enterprise pricing.

2. Peec AI: mid-market brand tracking across engines

Peec AI tracks how your brand and competitors appear across the major AI engines on a set of prompts you define, with benchmarking and source analysis, at a price point aimed well below the enterprise tier. It has become a popular pick for European mid-market teams.

Strengths: clean prompt-based tracking, competitor benchmarking, approachable pricing for marketing teams.

Weaknesses: it is a monitoring tool at heart; acting on the findings is up to you. Depth of data is lighter than Profound's.

Best for: marketing teams that want a readable AI share-of-voice dashboard without an enterprise contract.

3. Otterly.AI: lightweight monitoring for small teams

Otterly.AI monitors AI search results for your chosen prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI features, and reports on mentions, links, and sentiment. It sits at the affordable, self-serve end of the market.

Strengths: easy to start, priced for small teams and solo marketers, covers the main engines.

Weaknesses: monitoring only, smaller feature surface, and prompt coverage depends on what you think to track.

Best for: solo marketers and small businesses that want a simple yes/no pulse on AI visibility.

4. Scrunch AI: enterprise focus on the agent experience

Scrunch AI approaches the problem from a distinctive angle: how AI agents and crawlers actually experience your site, simulating personas and journeys, and highlighting where machine readers get lost. It was acquired by Sitecore in June 2026, so it now lives inside an enterprise DXP vendor.

Strengths: the agent-experience lens is genuinely differentiated, and it pairs monitoring with site-level recommendations.

Weaknesses: enterprise-oriented pricing and process, so it inherits the accessibility problem for smaller teams, and after the Sitecore acquisition its roadmap is tied to a larger platform's priorities.

Best for: larger organizations, especially Sitecore customers, that want to understand and optimize the machine-facing version of their site.

5. Semrush AI Toolkit: AI tracking inside a suite you may already own

The Semrush AI Toolkit adds AI visibility tracking (brand presence and sentiment across AI answers) on top of the Semrush platform, which has been part of Adobe since spring 2026. If your team already lives in Semrush, it is the lowest-friction way to get a baseline.

Strengths: no new vendor, integrates with the SEO workflow you already run, credible data foundation.

Weaknesses: it is an add-on, not the core product, so depth trails the specialists, and if you do not already pay for Semrush the combined cost is hard to justify for AI tracking alone.

Best for: existing Semrush customers who want AI visibility as a line item, not a new tool.

6. Ahrefs Brand Radar: AI mentions on top of Ahrefs' index

Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks your brand's appearances in AI Overviews and AI chat answers, built on Ahrefs' crawling infrastructure. Like the Semrush toolkit, it makes most sense as an extension of a subscription you already have. We compare both suites' AI add-ons in more depth here.

Strengths: strong underlying index, familiar interface for Ahrefs users, useful for spotting where competitors get cited.

Weaknesses: add-on economics and add-on depth; it reports visibility rather than changing it.

Best for: Ahrefs customers who want AI-answer tracking without adding a vendor.

How should you actually choose?

Choose by answering two questions: do you need monitoring depth or shipped fixes, and does the pricing model fit how your team buys?

  • Deepest enterprise monitoring: Profound, or Scrunch for the agent-experience angle.
  • Monitoring on a mid-market budget: Peec or Otterly.
  • AI tracking inside an existing suite: Semrush AI Toolkit or Ahrefs Brand Radar.
  • Score plus one-click fixes at a per-company price: Clarvia.

Five questions to ask on any demo or trial

Whichever direction you lean, these five questions separate the tools quickly:

  1. "Show me my site, right now." A good tool produces something useful on your own domain in the first session, not after an onboarding project.
  2. "What do I do with this number?" If the answer is a report and a wish, you are buying a scoreboard, not a result.
  3. "Do you check whether AI crawlers can actually reach my pages?" Crawler access at the robots.txt AND CDN/WAF level is the hard gate for all AI visibility; a tool that never checks it is measuring a game you might not even be in.
  4. "How does pricing scale?" Per-seat, per-brand, and per-prompt models each get expensive in different ways. Model your real usage before you commit.
  5. "Where does your data come from, and how fresh is it?" Honest tools tell you. Evasive ones hand you a black-box number.

One more honest note: every tool on this list, ours included, is operating in a market where the engines change fast and nobody has perfect data. Whatever you pick, favor tools that show you their reasoning over tools that hand you a black-box number. Our wider ranking across the whole category, including how we picked the criteria, is in the best AI visibility tools.

The cheapest way to start is also the fastest: run a free Clarvia scan on your site. In a few minutes you will see your AI visibility score, what is blocking you, and the fixes ranked by impact. If it turns out you need deeper monitoring than we offer, the list above is yours.
